Joan Pontius is running for County Council, District 5, the rural west of Howard County Maryland. She wants to represent YOUR VOICE, and her campaign  takes donations not from corporations, not from political action committees, but from RESIDENTS ONLY.

Joan took the No Developer/No Dark Money Pledge. Through overwhelming support for her campaign, she raised enough donations to become the first non-incumbent County Council candidate to qualify for the Citizens Election Fund (CEF).  The CEF provides matching funds for each donation made by a Howard County resident.

The 2022 vote for the County Council for District 5 is crucial. Our next County Council will finalize the General Plan—HoCo By Design, which will guide the county's growth over the next ten years. District 5, the rural west, is particularly vulnerable since it includes the majority of the county's remaining open spaces. A sustainable future for Howard County must balance economic interests with the need for infrastructure and responsible stewardship of our environment.

The county needs a voice for residents. Joan Pontius is the voice you need on County Council.
